Yesterday, the Deewaar movie was released. I wanted to watch it as I had been waiting for a long time, but my computer couldn't handle the load because of its low-end specs. So instead, I opted out for a film from Netflix called The Good Place which is loosely based on the same premise as Deewar. But let's get to know a little about what this movie is all about first!

This movie is directed by Yash Chopra and released in 1974. It received critical acclaim and became hugely successful both domestically and internationally from its release date onwards. It starred Amitabh Bachchan who played Vijay Dinanath Shastri, a supposed revolutionary and upholder of the law. His father was a lawyer and set up a law firm with his friend, J.K. Nanda (played by Sanjeev Kumar) who was an upright judge in the court. Vijay's brother Ravi (played by Shashi Kapoor) was a carefree soul who loved to spend money on his girlfriend, Sheela (played by Dimple Kapadia). However, their father was upset about his sons' attitudes towards life and how they didn't uphold the views which he believed in. In order to get them to sort themselves out, he sent Vijay to J.K. Nanda for a job in his office, while Ravi was made the manager of a sweets shop owned by Sheela's uncle. It was also revealed that Ravi had a gambling addiction which was the cause of the problems in their household.At work, Vijay tried to take on J.K. Nanda's assistant Prakash (played by Shammi Kapoor), who managed everything from cheating customers out of money to get bribes for himself and J.K. Nanda himself from big businesses, but no one would ever dare to take him on as he had links with politicians and policemen alike. One reason that J.K. Nanda gave Vijay the job was because he had a grudge against him ever since his father was killed in a police encounter. The police stated that they were after a suspected robber when in reality it was Vijay's father who they wanted to arrest, but when he ran away from them, in the heat of the chase, they shot him in self-defence. So Vijay decided to take on J.K. Nanda and Prakash, risking his life for others and being willing to break the law in order to do so. Vijay's first case involves taking on criminals linked to the politician, Mr. Khan (played by Feroz Khan). He is an influential man who demands bribes of people who are trying to get their cases heard by J.K. Nanda, but he doesn't mind asking him for money himself. However, it's established that Khan knows about Prakash's links with him and how he would supply him with money for bribes both legally and illegally. Prakash is seen walking around one night with a bag of cash on his shoulder whilst walking along the streets - which causes Vijay to investigate him further.
